Medalists & Winners Announced!!!

Young Author Winners

Clark

Ryan

We had many excellent entries for ISBE's 2008 Young Authors Contest and are pleased to inform participants that they have earned medals for their hard work, which will be presented at our End-of-the-Month assembly on March 31st. Parents are most welcome to attend. All thirty-one interesting stories that were submitted will be on display in the school library for our annual Open House/Arts Night on April 29th  from 6—8 PM. Plan to attend the Lions' Club Chili & Soup Supper on the same evening.

*You can pick up your book in the library anytime after the event.

Clark, an eighth grader, was chosen as our school wide overall 1st place winner, and will be attending the Young Authors Conference in May at ISU. His historical fiction entry, A Sniper's Sharpsburg, was an extremely well written, moving saga of a young boy going off against his parents' wishes to serve as a soldier in the Civil war. It was a real page turner. Congratulations Clark, on being the 2008 Young Authors Contest winner. You will be presented with a trophy for your exceptional effort at the assembly.

Ryan, a sixth grader, was also a contest winner, and received a gold trophy for his outstanding entry, Books, Gold. . .and a Cat. You must read it if you get the opportunity; you will be impressed with his creativity and depth of imagination as the story unfolds. It is a mystery full of intrigue. Congratulations on your achievement, Ryan.

We, the teachers and administrators at Pawnee School, are very proud of all our young authors and would like to thank everyone who participated as well as all of the parents who provided assistance and encouragement to their children with this project. We would also like to thank our PTO for their generosity in providing trophies and medals.

Keep up the Great Writing, Talented Pawnee Students!

Sincerely,    Diana Doglio Young Author Coordinator
